Have you received an invitation from the Lord to “Come ride with Me!” Many have heard this clarion call over the past few years. This invitation is being extended to the body of Christ. What the Lord is asking us to do is to prepare ourselves to participate in a movement that He is orchestrating. The Lord is doing a “new thing “and it is now upon us. I believe the “new thing” is this, instead of a man leading a ministry that becomes a movement; the Lord is starting a movement calling men to join Him. He is putting together an army and He will lead it. Each person that answers the call will take their place in the ranks as He has called each one. The draft notice has been given and we are being called to report for duty. He wants you in His army!
Since the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, there have been many movements over the centuries. These movements have been coming in waves and in the past century have been coming more frequently with a greater intensity. For instance, Martin Luther was called by God to restore the message of salvation by grace that became a movement. This movement became the foundation for the Lutheran Church. Centuries later another major movement began in Topeka Kansas with the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. This spread to Azusa Street in 1903 and quickly went around the world. This movement birthed the Pentecostal Churches that we know today.
Just a few decades later came the latter rain movement in the 40’s followed by the Lord raising up men like Oral Roberts in the 50’s that restored the gifs of healing and the ministry of the evangelist to the church. A few years later the Charismatic Renewal began that possibly touched every single denomination on earth with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Another move of the Holy Spirit began in the 60’s and 70’s with a focus on restoring the ministry of the teacher to the church, such as Jack Hayford. In the 80’s and 90’s we saw a focus on the restoration of the prophetic ministry and the office of the prophet, During this time God used men such as Rick Joyner and, Bob Jones to lay the foundation for the restoration of this truth that continues today. As you can see, the time frame between each movement has decreased from centuries to decades to years. We are now due for another move of God.
The New Birth
These movements are like a woman in labor. Just before the delivery the contractions become more frequent and more intense. Something historical is about to be birthed. When a woman “crowns” what appears first is the head of the child. This represents Christ emerging as the head of His body. In this next movement Christ will be crowned in the Church as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. That which will appear next is shoulders upon which His government will rest. (See Is. 9:6-7) The shoulders represent the fivefold ascension gifts of Christ the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. These are the administrations of Christ (See 1 Cor. 12:5) and their purpose is given to us by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:12-13,
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (13) Until we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
The main purpose for the fivefold gifts or mantles of Christ, is to perfect the saints and equip them for the work of ministry. It is the members of the household of faith that are called to do the work of the ministry, as well as the Church leadership. This includes helping each member know their spiritual gifts and how God has called them to function in the church, and provide the necessary training to empower them to fulfill their destiny in Christ.
Next appears the main body of the child, which represents the body of Christ. The body that we will see will be healthy with every part in place and functioning properly. Just as there are many members in the natural body, so are there many members that make up the body of Christ “For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ” (1 Cor. 12:13).
In Christ, as each member knows how they are called to function in His body, each part will become properly joined together to fit perfectly “joint to joint” as God has called each one. A joint is where two parts meet that connects together. We are connected together in Christ
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ, (16) From whom the whole body is properly joined together and working properly by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love (Eph. 4:15-16).
When the members of the body of Christ are jointed properly to the head, they will be properly joined to each other. The hand, shoulders, arms, and other body parts will function in such a way that the members will build itself up in love. Just like in a natural body, the hands cannot work independently of the arm, nor can the ears that hear try to become the eyes. Nor can the feet try to become the mouth. Each part has a particular purpose and function. When God’s body is in proper order, it will be in harmony with the head and in unity with one another. A church that is fitly framed together will then become a habitation for the Spirit of God. (Eph. 2:21-22)
With Christ established as the head of His body and His government in place, the focus will then be to help each member function as they have been called and set in the church as it has pleased Him (1 Cor. 12:18). The eyes of the body for prophetic vision will empower the church with spiritual sight. The hands with the gifts of helps will greatly strengthen the church.
For the body is not one member, but many. (15) If the foot shall say, because I am not the hand, I am not of the body, is it therefore not of the body? (16) And if the ear shall say, because I am not the eye, I am not of the body, is it therefore not part of the body? (17) If the body were an eye, who would hear? And if the whole were ears to hear, who would smell? (18) But now has God set the members every one of them in the body, as it has pleased Him. (1 Cor. 12:14-18).
The legs will appear next that will enable the church to stand on its own two feet to become mobile. And last of all, the feet. It will be the feet of the body of Christ that will crush Satan under its feet as the gospel of the Kingdom is spread throughout the nations. How blessed are the feet of those who bring good news!
The Apostolic Church
We have now entered the apostolic age where Christ is being established as the head of His church that will restore all of the gifts, mantles and anointings to the Church. The apostolic church is not about the restoration of the apostle to the Church, but that of establishing Christ as the head of the Church. Jesus was the message of the first Church apostles. God will establish His Son as the head of the Church that all of His fullness may be revealed through all the members of the Church,
And has put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things in the Church. (23) Which is His body, the fullness of him that fills all in all (Eph. 1:22-23).
With Christ is established as the head, we will see all of the mantles, anointings, gifting, divine nature and grace of Christ operating through the ordinary members of the Church. It is God’s passion to see the fullness of Christ revealed in all of His people. When this takes place, it will be the ordinary members of the Church that will minister the miraculous with signs and wonders. Instead of the people following a man that is leading a movement, they will become a part of the movement – the body of Christ.
Each person has a call and each one is needed. As each person functions in the church as God has called each one, we will see the fullness of Christ emerge in the Church with Kingdom power and authority. Then the members of the household of faith will become one in Christ. Like many different tributaries they will flow into one stream to become a major river. The unity of this will astound the world.
Those who answer the call to “Come and ride with Me” will become part of the living army of God. Like Ezekiel’s vision, as the dry bones come together, “bone to his bone” (Ez. 37:7) God will breathe new life into His Church,
So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceeding great army” (Ez. 37: 9).
This is the army of the living God that will follow Christ as the Lord of Host to fight the battles of heaven. These are the champions of faith that will follow Him wherever He leads them. The banner over them is love and their weapons are from the arsenal of heaven. Being empowered by the Spirit of might, they will be strong in the Lord and do great exploits. Because they are following the Lord of Hosts who leads them, they will always ride to victory and because God is love, they will never fail because love never fails.
Horse and Movements
Many people are seeing visions and dreams of horses. While horses can biblically represent many things, they prophetically often represent a movement. This is the horse power of the Lord. Recently one of our church members had a vision of horses that she described as follows.
“I saw a wave of water moving from the left to the right. There were horses in the wave. I expected to see warriors on the horses but instead I saw jockeys. They were racing, not against each other but racing with the wave.”
Interpretation – Waves often represent an outpouring of God’s Spirit. Many have seen visions of God’s glory being poured out like waves of an ocean until the full tide of His presence is ushered in. It is believed that a tidal wave is coming, a tsunami that is bigger than all the movements combined. Horses often represent a movement or ministries. In this vision there were many ministries moving together riding the wave. There have been reports of others who have seen visions of a herd of horses. Horses are very social in that they live, move and feed together. This represents that God is rising up a host of ministries and various movements that will net work together being in fellowship with one another. In Christ they are one.
These horses represent ministries and movements that have been given to God’s people. When God has a call upon your life, as you develop your ministry you will impact those within your sphere of influence with the living presence of God. You can become a movement anytime the Holy Spirit is moving through you that touch the lives of others with His life.
However, before you can ride well, you must learn how to ride. Each of these riders (jockeys) answered the call to fulfill their destiny by developing their gifts, talents and ministry. They ride well because they have found “their seat” in Christ. They have cultivated God’s presence for intimacy that enabled them to move in the wave of the Holy Spirit when it came. They are not riding for Him but with Him. When the wave of the Holy Spirit came, they were prepared and caught the wave to run the race.
These riders are not racing with each other because they have caught the wave of the Lord, a move of the Holy Spirit, and they are racing to fulfill their call. There is another major wave of the Holy Spirit coming. In preparation God is asking every person to know how they are called to function in the Church and develop their gifts to run the race that they may obtain the prize,
“Know you not that they which run in a race are all in the race, but one received the prize? So run that you may obtain (1 Cor. 9:24).
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth into those things which are before. (14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:14-15)
The Current Move of God
There is now a move of God taking place that is more subtle. That’s because it is taking place in the hearts of men right. A church that is praying for revival is going to experience an outpouring of prophecy, visions and dreams. Whether we believe in this or not Acts 2:17 declares it! I have meet many people that tell me that they are experiencing prophecy, visions and dreams with a deep sense of an unfulfilled destiny on their lives. While many are content with current church life, these people are responding to a deep hunger that is calling them closer to Christ.
I believe because of the strong resistance to this, God is moving in a quiet way that requires a sensitive and hungry heart to hear the call. This move of God is by His design to bring those that have an ear to hear, out of the wilderness so that He can lead them enter their Promise Land where there is milk and honey. As they respond to the call to follow the Lord, He will lead them to still waters where they will lie down in green pastures where they will flourish and prosper.
Answer the Call
I believe the Lord is asking us to forget the past and all that is holding us captive to move forward. Get past your offenses and forgive those that have hurt you, betrayed you and rejected you. Get past your fears, insecurity and uncertainty. Real faith requires actions. While fear looks faith leaps. It’s time to answer the call and ride with the Lord.
In 1988, I heard this silent call and I answered it and since then, life has been one exciting adventure. It has not always been easy as I have faced many trials and tribulations, false accusations and rejection as well as religious persecution and spiritual oppression. But I have never been so fulfilled, contented or enriched by His love, peace and joy as I now know.
It’s time to leave the past behind and abide in God’s love to fulfill your call. The main thing which is the main thing is intimacy with God for fellowship and relationship. He will guide you from the place of intimacy. It’s time to forgive those that have trespassed against you as God has forgiven you. It’s time to develop your gifts and talents so that when the wave of the Holy Spirit comes, you can ride the wave that will supernaturally enable you to become part of His movement. This movement will not be started and led by one man that becomes a movement with a following, but it will instead become a movement by Christ with a following, those that ride with Him.
Follow Christ – your passion
What is your deepest passion for Christ? What stimulates you and gets you excited? That is your call! We must prepare now for this. You cannot place a dentist in a car garage and expect him to be happy pulling spark plugs! Your greatest fulfillment and desire will come to pass as you follow Him – the Lord Jesus Christ. This means hearing His voice and responding appropriately. He will lead you from the place of rest to fulfill your call.
As a practical example of this, I tell my team leaders that they are not to follow me but they are to follow Christ to know what God is doing in their lives and ministry. We do not want people to fit into a mold but to be conformed into His image and likeness. Our goal is not to use people to build up our ministry, but to use our ministry to build up God’s people in love for “His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Each person is unique and within them is the treasure of the gift of the Holy Spirit that is to be release through them as noted by Paul in 2 Cor. 4:6-7.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (7) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us.
The worship team leader and their team members can become a movement to open the gates for the King of Glory to come in. By continually seeking the Lord and develop songs that reveal His heart and purpose for the season, they can ride with the Lord to become a worship movement. God is restoring the Tabernacle of David in our midst.
Our prophetic team leaders can develop their prophetic gifts and equip others to prophesy and in doing so, can become part of a prophetic movement. Likewise the youth that are on fire for God can develop their unique gifts and talents and engage with God to ride the crest of the wave of a youth revival. As each person responds the call to ride with Christ, they will in turn become empowered as a shining light that reveals Christ. We want to become a host for the move of the Holy Spirit that all can participate in, not just a select few.
Those who refuse to embrace the prophetic ministry and all that God is restoring are in essence rejecting Christ. Those who are complacent waiting for an outpouring of God’s Spirit to receive a blessing will find the waves of His glory sweeping over them. Instead of catching the wave they will be swept away by it. Those who are on the beaches sunning themselves will also be swept away by His power. We must be ready to catch the wave when it comes and ride with Him. In order to catch this wave you must develop your gifts and talents and use them to build up the body of Christ and minister the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit.
In His heart and love
