Defeating Witchcraft

Most Christians are aware that the Church is under a major spiritual siege. One of the symptoms of an assault is that families, church members and friends are experiencing “more than usual” conflicts that generate hard feelings. Some have bouts of depression with a loss of purpose and vision. Another symptom is feeling unusual fatigue for no apparent reason. Mental fatigue takes place when the mind is assaulted with anxiety and fear with persisting “thought patterns.’  These thought patterns circulate in a person’s mind like a revolving door that robs them of mental peace and vitality.

The battle is for the mind. What helps me during a siege is to drop out of my head into my heart. It is with the heart that man believes unto salvation (Ro. 10:10) and it is my heart that I offer to God my praise and my love as I focus on His throne above. The key is to get out of my head until the peace of God comes, then I am able to see clearly without the confusion.

You can break a persisting thought pattern or that of fear and anxiety by making a transition from the natural to the spiritual. You do this by getting out of your head to worship God from the heart. The key is to get out of the earthly realm to the heavenly knowing that “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in you” (Is. 26:3).

If you are then risen with Christ, seek those things which are above… (2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth (Col 3:1-2).

The adversary is an expert when it comes to engaging the mind with thoughts that create animosity towards others. Just as God’s thoughts float gently into our mind and His heart is impressed upon ours, the adversary works the same way.  Nothing has power over you except that which you come into agreement with. Satan didn’t come into the Garden of Eden and take it by force. Rather he gave a subtle suggestion to Adam and Eve in the effort for them to come into agreement with him in opposition to God, thus empowering him. Even today, Stan is empowered through man’s agreement.

The thoughts and feelings that come to us that we engage with, although they may appear to be right and just may have their origin from the wrong source.  We therefore must judge our thoughts that are contrary to the divine nature of God. A question one might ask is, “What eternal fruit is this thought bearing and is it motivated by love?”  We must be able to discern the enemy when he is at work and cast down every vain imagination and carnal thought that is contrary to God. It is written in James 3:17 that,

The wisdom that is from above if first pure, then peaceable, gentle and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and hypocrisy.

The apostle James also tells us that the fruit or rightness brings peace and is sown in peace by those that are instruments of peace. (James 3:18).

Our thoughts affect our heart. This is because the heart and mind are connected. If the mind is engaged in negative thoughts, it will cause negative feelings to arise in the heart. The reverse is also true. If anger, envy and jealousy arise in the heart, the mind will responds with thoughts of animosity.  It helps greatly to read God’s Word as the scriptures renew the spirit of the mind by the life that is in them.

The heart is the seat of life where God’s love is to rule. The adversaries attempt is to preempt a coming move of God by hardening Christian hearts one toward another. He knows that God’s love unifies the Church but a house divided will not stand.  Because God is love, those who love God and love one another abide in God and God in them. (1 John 4:17)  The adversary comes to rob, kill and destroy. We are admonished to “Keep your heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

Therefore, the adversary seeks to supplant the throne of God’s love and replace it with a heart of stone.  There is coming an outpouring of God’s love with the revealed mind of Christ that will transform the heart and mind of the church. A heart and mind that is one with Christ will reveal the heart and mind of God to a lost and dying world in Kingdom power and demonstration.

Rejoice with Thanksgiving

No matter what trial you are going through, it is your greatest opportunity to praise the Lord with thanksgiving for the privilege of suffering. Rejoicing with thanksgiving is the language of faith that opens the portal of heaven. Anyone can praise God during the good times, but if we truly believe Romans 8:28 that all things works out to the good to them that love the Lord, we will “Give thanks always for all things unto God” (Eph. 5:20).

Therefore, if you find yourself dwelling on thoughts that are creating issues in your heart, take them to the Lord and the peace of God will keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. If is here in God’s presence that your mind will become renewed. We are called to rejoice in the Lord always, laying all things at His feet.

Rejoice in the Lord always” again I say, rejoice. (6) Be careful (anxious) for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. (7) And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil 4:4, 6-7).

The Mantle of Grace

Our first line of defense in any attack, is to first humble ourselves before God for God gives grace to the humble. We are saved by grace and we live by grace. When we think that we have the right answers or that we can handle things by our own strength is to create our own demise. Every Christian is given the Spirit of Truth with the passion to see justice and truth prevail. But unless our sense of justice and that which is right is sanctified by the Lord, we will form opinions that we believe is the truth.  This is where deception lies at the door.

We may believe that our opinions is the truth but unless it is the same as the Lords, then our truth is actually a lie “for the truth is in Jesus (Eph. 4:21). The root of humanism is the belief that the wisdom of mankind is basically good. It is the deception that mankind can be like God without God.  The source of this is from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Even though our good may appear right and just, it is still evil because of its roots – from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  The spirit behind this is pride based on self righteousness, which is to believe that our thoughts are the same as God’s.

Therefore, our opinions and beliefs apart from God can be lies. They appear to be true in the natural, but unless it is the way that God sees things with His heart, it is still our own personal perspective.  Although we are to walk in wisdom with understanding, we must learn to see through the eyes of the Spirit with the heart of God.

True humility understands that our breath, ministry, provisions and blessings is because of the grace of God, not our own righteousness or “right- ness.” As we submit unto God to hear from heaven, we resist the enemy and he will flee. Why? Because along with God’s grace is His glorious presence, which Satan cannot stand. A person that puts on the cloak of humility is clothed in the grace of God. Humility is therefore the preferred mantle to seek. Those who wear it as Christ did will find that there is no power that can prevail against Gods presence when they are clothed in His grace.

Worship and Praise

A major key is to come before the Lord in worship, for God inhabits the praises of His people. Worship is the primary activity of heaven and it is also the primary purpose of Christians as citizens of heaven. The highest call of every Christian is that of intimacy and fellowship with our heavenly Father. In heaven there is no curse, fear or illness, only love, peace and joy, “For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink: but righteous, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).

Worship always brings us into an inter counter with God. The more we engage in heaven’s activities the more that heaven invades and infects our lifestyle with the presence of heaven.  Worship is the number one priority in ministry. Everything else that we do is affected by our devotion to this call “For God inhabits the praises of His people.”

It is from the place of worship that we enter in His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. (Ps. 100:1-3) Like King David, we enter into the gates of heaven where we are empowered with His counsel and understanding that enables us to rule at the gates on earth. It is here in His presence that His joy becomes our strength that renews our spirit with new life and vitality.

Be sure to check your heart to see if it is clear of animosity towards others. If you are thinking ill of others, engaging in gossip, slander or harboring hard feelings, then forgiveness is the place to begin as an act of worship. Intercession should always take the place of criticism. Jesus said blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy. To the degree that you forgive, is to the same degree that you are forgiven.

Thy Kingdom Come

Jesus taught us to pray “Thy Kingdom Come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In heaven there are no curse, witchcraft or illness.  If it exists in heaven it is to be loosed on earth.  We have been given the authority to bind and loose. Therefore if it doesn’t exit in heaven, it is to be bound on earth. If it exists in heaven it is to be loosed on earth. We usher in the Kingdom of heaven from the place of worship with the purpose of causing the circumstances here on earth to line up with heaven.

The Church is called to lose heaven’s expression here on earth that reveals the Father’s love. This is the primary purpose of prayer, which is to manifest His Kingdom on earth that the Lordship of Jesus would be seen in all aspects of life. We are called to shift the spiritual atmosphere around us with the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God comes in the presence of the Spirit of God that impacts the lives of others.

From the place of God’s presence, break the curse of witchcraft and proclaim “Thy Kingdom Come!” to usher in God’s glory. It is His glory that displaces darkness. Whether it is a spiritual attack oppressing your soul or the circumstances around you, God’s light will invade the darkness to set you free for His light is greater than darkness. We are therefore called to, Arise and Shine for your light has come and the glory of God has risen upon you (Is. 60:1).

The gospel message of the Kingdom is that the Kingdom of God provides salvation for the whole man – spirit, soul and body. When Jesus said that the Kingdom of God shall be in you, He is saying that the reality of that which is taking place in heaven is also to take place in you. It is the expression of the Kingdom of heaven that is “at hand” in you, that empowers you by the Spirit to minister the gospel message of the Kingdom with signs and wonders through you. Jesus said,

And as you go preach saying, “The Kingdom of heaven is at hand. (8) Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received freely give” (Mt. 10: 7-8).

In summary, when we pray for His Kingdom to come, we are asking Him to establish the order, rule and authority of God and His glory on earth, as it is in heaven. The results are that the sick are healed, the possessed are set free, and the evil one is cast down! The Kingdom of heaven collides with the forces of darkness and prevails for greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Bless your Enemies

One of them most powerful weapons that I use to combat witchcraft is based on Mathew 5:44, which is to bless our enemies and love them. Jesus said,

“But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you.”

Every time you render a heart felt blessing to your enemies, a spiritual missile is launched that intercepts and destroys the curse launched at you and the witchcraft immediately retreats!  Whenever you ask God to grant the same love and blessings that you have received because of the atoning work of the cross that set you free, you are loosing the power of the cross where Jesus died for them. (1 Cor. 1:18)

You cannot cast out evil with evil, but you can combat evil with good knowing that it is the goodness of God that leads to repentance. Do you want your enemy to know the love of God? To know that God cares for them and that He sent His Son Jesus to die for them?  Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing, but contrariwise a blessing: knowing that you are called to inherit a blessing (1 Peter 3:9).

You do not need to confront those that are opposing you that are saying all manner of evil against you. Through prayer you ask God to touch them with His love, for love never fails. The key is to pray FOR them that they might know Jesus as their savior who died on the cross because of His love for them.

When we sincerely pray with love motivated intercession for others, the Sprit of God moves to touch their lives. However, those that hate God will respond with confusion. Alto, I have seen the power of His glorious presence and love scatters them!  The occult do not believe in heaven or the after life, so when you pray for the power of the cross to be revealed to them, you are sending forth the spirit of redemption and salvation that they may know Him! This causes them to flee! The following is how I pray when I am under a siege of witchcraft.

Heavenly Father,

I worship you with thanksgiving and praise, knowing that all things turn out for the good to them that love you. (Spend 5 minutes in worship)! I humble myself before you thanking you for your grace, “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (15) For whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named” (Eph. 3:14-15).

I thank you for your Son Jesus and your love for the world. I bind any and all curses, hexes and vexes that are coming against me, and I loose the Kingdom of God for your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. I ask for your presence that comes with your Kingdom to manifest so that the reality of that which is taking place in heaven, will take place here on the earth – especially in my life and circumstances.

I now ask heavenly Father that you reveal to those that are cursing me, your love for them. I ask that the power of the Cross be revealed to them and the atoning blood of Jesus Christ as the sacrificial Lamb of God that was shed for the forgiveness of sin. Bless them with the good news of the gospel message of  salvation and eternal life through Christ.

I pray that they might know the breadth, and length and depth and height of the love of Christ that passes all knowledge. I pray according to Mathew 5:44 to bless those that curse me, and I pray for those that despitefully use me and persecute me.  I bless you above all my heavenly Father, and I thank you for the life that I now live in Christ,

For yours in the Kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. In Christ name I pray – Amen.
