The River is Here by Roy Roden

We are in a whole new spiritual season. Even nature itself proclaims this. New England recently experienced an unusually warm winter with little precipitation. This is just the opposite of the year before that experienced heavy snowfall with spring flooding. And to top it all, last March Maine saw warmer than usual temperatures that broke records. Spring has come early this year!

Spring announced it’s time to spring forward when the maple trees yielded its sap weeks earlier than usual (Farmers tap this sap to make maple syrup). The Canadian Geese and Robins migrated early this year. The ice in the lakes melted quickly followed by the deciduous trees showing early signs of spring by the emerging buds.

What is the prophetic significance of all of this? As nature proclaims, God has given to us an early spring in the spiritual realm. New life is emerging and the spiritual atmosphere is ripe to plant new things. It is the warmth of God’s love that is creating the right conditions for new growth to spring forth. The light of His presence is NOW shining upon us. The early warm spring indicates the following.

The harsh winter that we went through in 2010/11 is over. We will never see a year like 2011 again that took us through a major transition.

  1. A new season has begun that requires that we capture His vision. We must “See with His eyes” in order to see the new to make the required shift.
  2. The spiritual atmosphere is now ripe for new growth to spring forward.
  3. Growth will accelerate as new ministries and creative ideas with fresh innovative ways take root. The results – a multiplication of eternal fruit.

Get ready for new growth. We are now in the season of the Springtime of God’s heart. God is looking for those who will embrace His heartbeat that reveals His pulse for the times and seasons. The clarions call is clear to come and receive a fresh infilling of His love that will empower you to spring forth with newness of life. The river of God’s love is here that energizes you with the life that flows from His heart. There is life in His love. As we gaze into His heart, fountains of living waters spring forth for you to drink from that is making all things new. There is power in the love of God with the courage to move forward into new realms with boldness.  It is high time to forget the past to see the new with an impartation of His love that will enable you to spring forward into a whole new season.

Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. (19) Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:18-19).

A tactic of the adversary’s is to capture our minds to dwell on yesterdays’ issues. Today is the day the Lord has made and His mercies are renewed daily. What happened last year is over for we are NOW in an entirely new season that requires a fresh perspective and way of perceiving. Even the vision we carried in our heart for so long is being anointing with a fresh perspective with new wine. The vision might be the same, but the way that it is carried out may be in a new way.

Rivers of Living Water

We are NOW in the season where rivers of living waters are being poured out from the throne of God. In Ezekiel chapter 47, we see living waters pouring out from the house of the Lord through the Eastgate. These waters are released from the house of the Lord that flows into the region that gives life to the desert. First, the waters rise to the ankles, then up to the knees until it became a raging river that you could not pass over. A deluge of God’s love is coming and it is coming in waves until the full tide is in! Like Niagara Falls, His glory will be poured out in power.

This River is the outpouring of God’s love that will rain upon His people until they become so saturated with His presence; they will shine with the light of His glory. As each person becomes a tributary, and they merge into the flow of God’s love with that of another, a unified river will begin to flow out of the house of the Lord. The house of the Lord consists of His people for we are the temple for the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Together as one, the household of faith will not only host the Lord’s glory, but also become the source for the outpouring. As we drink of the love of God, the wells of our inner most being will be filled to overflowing with living waters that will touch others with His life. Jesus said,

“He that believes on Me, as the scriptures has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living waters” (John 7:38).

Jesus said, No man comes to the Father except by Me. Christ is the door that we pass through to see the Father. As we align our heart with the heart of God in heaven, His love fills our inner most being with living waters.  Our call is to release the living waters flow from our inner most being that gives life to the thirsty. This living water is the Spirit of God who dwells in you.

It is from this infilling of God’s love that will release an outpouring. While people are looking to receive a blessing, God is searching for hearts to receive an infilling. God is establishing His house to become a habitation for His glory that is so filled with His love, that living waters are poured out to impact the nations for Christ. NOW is the come to the Lord daily to partake of the tree of life, the joy of His love that is found in Christ. Now is the time to shed the love of God abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit that touch the lives of others with His life,

And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, which is given to us (Romans 5:5).

There is Life in God’s Love

There is life in God’s love. The more abundant life is not only the gift of salvation for eternal life, but also the gift of life that comes from abiding in God who is love. The very nature of God is love, “For God is love, and He who abides in love abides in God and God in Him…. Because as He is in heaven, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:16-17).  God created mankind in His image to be clothed in light to be as He is – that of love. As a new creation in Christ, I am called to bear His likeness.

Love is the life force by which we live. His love is the transforming power by which we are changed into His image. As the apostle John declared, “As He is in heaven, so are we on this earth.” Because God IS love, we become as He as we abide in His love. The missing key to victory that many Christians need is to simply embrace the simplicity of the Gospel of love. With God, it is simply a  “heart matter” rather than our religious faith, good works, disciplines and deeds. Without love, we are simply nothing (1 Cor. 13). The reason is because the very nature of God is love.

Without love we do not have His presence and without His presence our lives and activity is void of His life. Without a heart, there is no heartbeat!

There is no greater power than the love of God. The Father’s heart is the source of atomic love that is to explode with unprecedented power that will shake the nations. Seek His heart and you will have His love from which His power flows.  When Jesus walked this earth, He came to destroy the works of the devil and He will do this through His people that have the Father’s heart that reveals His love. The Fathers love is the greatest weapon that is yet to be unleashed from the arsenal of heaven that will have an atomic impact wherever it is unleashed.

God’s love heals fragmented hearts, redeems, restores, delivers and fills you with His Spirit for God is love. His love never fails and His love cast out all fear. God’s love is unconditional. There are no conditions to come to Jesus in order to experience the Father’s love. Jesus paid the debt by His blood that we may boldly come to the throne of grace to FREELY partake of His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4) at any time.

It was the prayer of Jesus for you to be filled with the Father’s love. (John 17: 26) Simply ask and you shall receive. As the apostle Paul declared, we are “To know the love of Christ that passes all understanding that you might be filled with the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:19). If you want to be filled with the fullness of God, seek to be filled with His love. Let this be your quest and soon you will overflow with living waters from you inner most being.  Oh what joy!

The Eye of the Lord

Jesus tells us that the Father seeks those who worship Him. His eyes are intently searching for those who will step out with extravagant worship to enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. To gaze into His eyes that we might know His heart to see with His eyes His point of view. That we might see from His perspective from above rather than through the eyes of our soul here below.

To see into God’s eyes is to see His eternal love that floods our inner most being with His divine presence. His eyes are the gateway to see into the realms of heaven. It is His understanding and wisdom released that guides our footsteps, comforts our soul, and imparts a fresh perspective of life from His reality. Jesus said that the light of the body is the eye. And if our eyes are single with our focus entirely upon Him, our whole body shall be full of life (Mathew 6:220).  Just as the eye of the Lord mirrors His heart, the eyes that see with the eyes of their heart will mirror His love.

An observatory captured what appears to be an eye located in a far galaxy that is inviting us to see into the heavens.  As King David said, “The heavens declare His glory (Psalms 19:1). The eye of the Father is inviting us to gaze into His heart that we may see His glory. As we see Him fountains of living water will spring forth from His heart to fill our inner most being with His love. Again, in turn, our inner most beings will flow with rivers of living waters to touch the lives of others.

Because God created us in His image, when we set our gaze upon Him, His eyes are our eyes. As we set our affections on things above and purpose our minds to see into Heaven, we will see His glory. The Holy Spirit desire is to reveal His glory to us. The more of His glory that we see, the more of His light fills our inner most being that reveals the light of His glory

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus (1 Cor. 4:6).

The power of God is released by love through those that see with His heart. God uses His power because of love and so must we. We are witnesses of His love that reveals to the world the message of the Gospel of the Kingdom in power and demonstration that Christ is King who loves the world.  There is no greater demonstration of God’s love than that which was revealed upon the Cross. Likewise, Jesus said that greater love has no man than he who lays down His life for his friends. Jesus said that we are His friends if we lay our life down because of our love for Him to follow Him.  (John 15:13-14) We follow Him when we see that which He is doing to align ourselves with His purpose.

Just as Jesus did that which HE SAW the Father doing, and He spoke the Words that He HEARD the Father saying, we are called to do the same. Jesus walked under an open heaven because of His intimate “heart to heart’ relationship with the Father. It is through our intimate relationship with God that we too can see that which the Father is doing to do the works that Jesus did. Because Jesus saw “eye to eye” with the Father, He was able to say that to see Him was to see the Father! We are created in our Father’s image that others may also behold Him, especially through the healings and miracles that reveal the love of God for the world.

I Will Watch To See

The Church is called as a whole is called to “watch and pray” with the Lord. The promise is given to those who see “eye to eye’ with the Lord, the joy of singing together as one voice. What is this “one voice?” It is the revelation of the heart of the Father revealed to those who eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit says. Listen with your heart to the promise contained in this scripture,

  Your Watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion (Isaiah 52:8);

The language of heaven is often in symbols. Even Jesus taught the people about the Kingdom of God using symbols such as wine, fish, and bread to portray a message that revealed the heart of the Father. Interestingly, the prophet Habakkuk gives to us a dynamic way of hearing by “seeing.” The reason is because it is most often through prophetic vision, that which we see with the eyes of our heart, that reveals to us the heartbeat of God.

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what He will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved (Habakkuk 2:2).

Now that is an interesting way of hearing God.  We hear by seeing! It is often that which we see with the eyes of our heart that we hear the voice of Spirit of wisdom and revelation that interprets for us the language of heaven. God is a person and His love always has a purpose that reveals His heartbeat.  This is why we must listen with our spirit to that which the Lord is saying to us through the Scriptures, though God’s creation, and that, which comes to us through prophecy, visions, and dreams. We cannot see Him if we are trying to fathom Him with our minds, Lest we have knowledge about God without really knowing Him. This is why Paul tells us that,

“…. Knowledge puffs up but love edifies. If any man thinks that he knows anything, he doesn’t know anything as he ought to know. But if any man loves God, the same is known of Him” (1 Cor. 8:1-3).

A man who loves God knows God! You cannot know God without falling in love with the one who adores and loves you.  We cannot know God unless we have a love for His truth. In all things, ask, “What is your heart Father in this?

Truth that slays love is not truth. Those whose words are critical, judgmental and opinionated, although may be founded upon some truth without God’s heart does not have the power of healing and restoration, but contains the spirit of condemnation that puts people in prison. Without His life all that you say, preach, teach, pray and prophesy will simply be empty words that fall to the ground. But the oracle of God that reveals His heart, His words will not only reveal the love of God, but also the works of God. This is the faith that works by love (Galatians 5:6).

As you come to know the heart of the Father by the Spirit that reveals His ways to you, His heart becomes yours. As you walk forward in love, over time you will feel God’s love filling your heart daily. As you stand to minister His words, His heart comes so alive in your chest; you may even feel like you are going to explode with His love. People know the voice of the Father when He is speaking to them with the truth that is given in love. It is this truth from the Fathers heart that matures His sons into Christ.

“But Speaking the truth in love, we may group up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ” (Ephesians 4:15).

We cannot commune with our Father if we are occupied with our own thoughts, theological views and opinions. All to often we look for those that can come into agreement with us. Those who see eye to eye accordingly to our own understanding. Listen to the warning of the Lord to them who gather around the warmth of their own understanding that leads to strife, gossip, slander and misunderstandings.

Behold, all you that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that you have kindled. This you shall have of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow  (Isaiah 50:11).

All too often what others call “The light of the Lord” is simply the fire that is kindled from their perspective. When people gather around a concept embraced as “truth, that does not originate from the heart of God,  self- righteousness is at the door, which is spiritual pride. Unfortunately, many will even use the scriptures to validate their source of authority. Our call is to “Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory:” (Isaiah 63:15).

If is from being positioned in His heart above that we are able to see clearly from His perspective and minister His love that releases His truth that has the power of transformation. It is also those who have gone through the transformation of change that works by love that has the power to bring transformation to others through God’s love. God inhabits authenticity, not our religious views that mar the true image of the heart of God. Center your heart upon the Father’s heart and soon you will experience the joy of heaven itself. As King David declared,

“You will show me the path of life: in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore“ (Psalms 15:11).

 The Joy of the Lord

Another NOW outpouring is that of the Lord’s joy. The results of His joy is an infilling of God’s Spirit that fills our soul with His living presence. It is written that the Kingdom of God is righteous, peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit. This joy paves the way to receive the new wine. His joy flushes out the old mindsets and attitudes and breaks off the oppression coming against you.

When I am flooded with His joy, I often hear His voice speaking to me in a way that is most clear. His love tenderizes my heart and His joy makes my heart merry. This joy is not just a “feel good of the soul” but THE JOY OF THE LORD.  His joy often tickles my inner being until I break out with hilarious laughter that frees us from the baggage that I tend to carry. It is also this joy that embarrassed me so many times in public, especially when I was teaching, that it finally broke my religious façade to relax and enjoy His presence. You cannot have a religious air about you if you are laughing in stiches! Now today, I love to see the gift of His joy imparted to others.

I have also found that the joy of the Lord strengthens our inner man with the Spirit of His Might, for the joy of the Lord is our strength.  It is this strength from the impartation of His joy that paves the way for a fresh infilling of His love. And, like the universe, His love has no bounds. And like the universe, we are created to ever grow and expand in His love without end as noted in Ephesians 3:16-18,

That He would grant to you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may comprehend with all the saints, what is the breadth, and the length and the depth and the height. And to know the love of Christ, which passes all knowledge, that you might be filled with the fullness of God.

His joy also has the transforming power to make one into a new wineskin! An old wine skin is crusty and stiff due to the formation of crystals lodged in the leather container. However, you can soften the wineskin by letting it soak in water. Likewise, an old religious wineskin that is set in their ways can be made soft and pliable (teachable and humble) by soaking in the river of God’s living presence.

The beauty of the Lord’s presence is that no matter where we are in our Christian pilgrimage, old or young, His love, peace and joy flushes out the old simply by the nature of who He is – life. This is one means by which God is removing the crusty layers formed over our hearts and minds from past teachings and movements, heartaches and disappointments that frees us with the liberty to move forward that will enable us to go higher in this next season.

  In Conclusion

It is from the place of abiding in God’s heart that we are filled to overflowing with His love. It is His living presence that enables us to rise and shine with the light of His glory. Rivers of God’s love are being prepared to be poured out into the region that flows from the house of the Lord.  When our hearts are properly aligned with our heavenly Father, heaven invades our life with supernatural encounters. It is here in the spiritual realm that we dine with the Lord at His table in the presence of our enemies. His banner over us is love, the power that no enemy can penetrate.

Destiny has to yield to you when you are abiding in God’s purpose that originates from His heart.  As our hearts are aligned with the Father’s, the angels assigned to us are released to do the Fathers will.  As we see “eye to eye” with the Father, we drink from the fountain of His love that fills us with living waters. When our hearts are aligned with His, we are postured in sprit to sit with Christ in heavenly places to see with His perspective. In this we become one that creates a harmonious relationship between men, angelic activity and the realm of heaven. It’s not our vision but His purpose that arises from His heart that brings heaven to earth.

It is the vision that arises from the Father’s heart to fulfill His purpose carried out in the power of the Spirit that brings heaven to earth.

Love never fails. It will be our love for the Father and for His Son that will keep us faithful to remain on the path of life. Friends, this is the season that God is calling deep unto deep, to set our affections upon the Father that we may know His heart so that His heart may become our own. To receive His love that we may release river of living waters that brings life to our Eden and those within our sphere of influence.

It’s time to see the new! What is God revealing to you? Look into God’s heart and you will see with clear vision!

                       In His heart and love,
