The purpose of every believer is to be present with the Lord to be carriers of His presence. It is His presence that rests upon you and ministers through you, that prophecy to the world the message that Christ was crucified, has risen and is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. In essence, our very life bears the prophetic message of the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heave, which is the testimony of Jesus.
The apostle John bore witness to this by the angel who told him, “Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy” (Rev. 19:10). Whenever you give a word that is anointed, or minster God’s healing, or the Lord’s divine nature is revealed, the Spirit of prophecy is present. Why? Because the fruit of your life, your walk and the ministry of the Spirit, bears witness to the testimony of Jesus. Thus, you become the Spirit of prophecy that testifies to others that “Christ in you the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27) is doing the same works that He did when He walked this earth.
As a prophetic minister, I know the purpose of true prophetic ministry is more than giving a prophetic word, or experiencing trances, visions and dreams, it is all about being present with Him and He with us. Prophetic revelation always reveals Christ, His purpose and plans. When we come into union with His heart, we are able to fulfill His purpose by the power of the Spirit. After all, Jesus prayer to the Father before His crucifixion and resurrection, is that we “May be one,”
That they may all be one: as you Father are in Me and I am in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent Me” (John 1:21).
The purpose of being one in the Father and His Son, is to host His presence. The result of this divine unity of His Spirit is to reveal Christ to the world. Thus our quest is to be so present with the Lord that we become one in Spirit –His, for “He that is joined to the Lord is one Spirit” (1 Cor. 6:17).
When we are joined to the Lord, the Spirit bears witness with signs and wonders that Jesus has risen and is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Thus, we become true witnesses of Christ when the Spirit of the Lord is moving in us and through us. In essence, our lives become the testimony of Jesus, which is the Spirit of prophecy. Anytime the Spirit is present, the Spirit of prophecy is also. And when the Spirit is moving through you, the testimony of Jesus is present for His works to be seen.
Jesus said the Spirit of truth will reveal Him to us and brings His Words to life. Those who love Him that hear His voice and keep His Words and obey His commandments, has the promise that He and the Father will come and make their dwelling with them and reveal their love to thme (John 14:17-26). The pathway to becoming one is that of love. Those who love the Lord will hear His voice, keep His Words that are life, and obey His commandments. In this we are one.
Knowing His Voice
Jesus said, “My sheep know my voice and they follow Me.” Thus, the purpose of knowing His voice is to follow Christ for Jesus said, “Where I am there will My servant be also” (Jn. 12:26). Jesus desire is that we are present with Him at all times.
Those who are present with Him, host His presence. Being where Jesus is does not come by knowing the scriptures. Nor is it the occasional blessing of His presence we experience during a church service, at a conference or anointed teaching. It is the place where we abide continually in His presence. Jesus is the eternal omnipresent one. As the “I AM, ” His desire is that we become “present” with Him at all times. In doing so, we learn how to be aware of His presence in our lives.
The purpose of knowing the voice of God it is for intimacy and fellowship. It is more than just receiving a word of wisdom, understanding and direction. It is being with the one who came that we may have more abundant life – His. Thus, it is being present with Him, that our spirit becomes impregnated with His. Become one in Spirit enables us to hear His heart, know His passion, His desires and His thoughts at any moment in time. Eternal time exist when we are present with the eternal one!
It is not enough to know His voice but to hear THE WORD Himself. The Word of God is a person, who is Jesus Christ (John 1:1). And thus the communication begins between heaven and earth by those who live in the Spirit.
In addressing the Church at Laodicea, Jesus states that He stands at the door and knocks and “If any man hears My voice, and opens the door, I will come in to Him and will sup with Him and He with Me” (Rev. 3:20). It is not just hearing the knock on our hearts that Jesus wants us to respond to, but to open up our world for Him to come in for fellowship and intimacy. As the above scripture reveals, Jesus is all about being present that we may sup with Him in His presence.
Ministers of the Spirit
We are called to be ministers of the Spirit for we have been empowered by God to do the same works that Jesus did “Who also made us able ministers of the New Testament: not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills but the Spirit gives life (2 Cor. 3:6).
It is from the place of His presence, that we minister His Words that arise from His heart in power with authority that impacts the heart of others. His Words are Spirit and they are life. (John 6:63) Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Thus, when we speak His Word – the truth in love, our words will be anointed that reveals the person of Christ.
John the Baptist said the Lord will baptize you with the Spirit and with fire. This fire was seen on the day of Pentecost as cloven tongues of fire that sat upon those present. As they were filled with the Holy Spirit, they began to speak as the Spirit gave them the utterance that revealed “the wonderful works of God” (Acts 2:11).
The miracle of Pentecost was not just speaking in tongues,, but the words that were uttered in the language of those present from other nations. On the day of Pentecost, God released the Spirit of Prophecy that revealed the wonderful works of God. This was the fulfillment of the promise that Jesus gave before His crucifixion, . which is the Spirit of Truth who will “dwell with you and shall be in you” ( John 14:17). This is the testimony of Jesus – the Spirit of prophecy. The power that Jesus said will enable us to be witnesses unto Him in all the earth (Acts 1:8).
God is empowering His ministers as a flame of fire (He. 1:71). He does not want us to just speak about Him, but to be a vessel for His voice to speak through. His desire is that others may hear His voice by the Spirit that reveals the saving knowledge of His truth that sets men free. You are anointed with the Holy Spirit as a flame of fire to manifest the Spirit of prophecy that reveals the mighty works of God – which is the testimony of Jesus.
Many interpret being a witness as revealing the scriptures and being obedient to all that is written. We can preach the gospel and still not be anointed. We can witness to others of His saving grace and yet without His presence, our words will not have the desired effect. The scriptures only yield its voice when the Holy Spirit reveals their truth in love that our heart may be enlightened in the KNOWLEDGE of Him (See Eph. 1:17-18).
True Spirit life is experiential. Thus, it is God’s passion that we know Him in Spirit that we may know His truth. To experience His love, to know His heart, to be present with Him in such as way that we are consciously present with Him and He with us. From Genesis to the book of Revelation, the Scriptures point to the one who is the TRUTH, the WAY, and The Life.
If we are not present with Him, we cannot reveal His presence to others. The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy. The testimony of Jesus comes by the ministry of the Holy Spirit that touch the heart of others with His life.
The New Testament Covenant
Many miss God because they follow a path that leads to everything but the simple devotion to “Be With Me” that we might know Him. God wants us to be present with Him as He loves to be present with us. This after all is the New Testament Covenant. God has said,
“I will dwell in them, and walk in them: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people… And I will be a Father unto you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord almighty (2 Cor. 6:16, 18).”
As the above scripture states, He will not only dwell in His people, but also WALK IN THEM. God wants His voice to walk in every aspect of our life – our soul, heart, will, mind and spirit. The same voice that WALKED in the cool of the day in the Garden of Eden that Adam and Eve knew, now walks in us (Genesis 3:8). Friends, we are the Garden of Eden that Christ has redeemed for a habitation for His Spirit.
BE Still AND Know
No matter what we are doing in life we can learn how to be internally still to be present with the Lord. If our minds are occupied with our thoughts and our personal feelings, we become so present with ourselves, that we miss being present with Him. Self-centeredness, self-serving and self-seeking, creates a negative spiritual vacuum that attracts everything but the light, love and life of God.
Eternal life is not just living forever in heaven; it is the spiritual life that enriches our lives with the abundances of heaven. Heaven comes in the person of Jesus. Instead of seeking for a passion driven life, we are to seek a presence driven life. And from the place of intimacy, minister His life from the place of His manifest presence that reveals His glory – the faith that works by love.
It is a people that rise and shine with awakened hearts empowered by God’s love, that display the splendor of His excellency and His mighty acts for His glory to be revealed throughout the earth. We are now entering into a season where we will see signs and wonders continually. The Lord will do this through His people. Once again as in the beginning, the Spirit of the Lord will move upon the face of this earth and the knowledge of the glory of God shall cover the earth as the waters covers the sea.
The call is to “Rise and shine for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you” (Is. 60:1)
I leave you with the blessing, “The Lord bless you, and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine yon you, and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).
