A Burst of God’s Glory at Moravian Falls
An overview of the School of Watchmen at Moravian Falls 10-8-11
For years we have asked the Lord to send musicians, a live worship team to lead worship with the anointing to open the portals of heaven for the King of Glory to come in (Ps. 24:8)! I have learned over the years that God is teaching us as worshippers, that our praise to Him is the sound of music. Worship is not something that we do, but who we are – living instruments of praise! When the people break out with praise, God’s breaks in. When praises go up His glory comes down!
This happened corporately at Moravian Falls at The Gathering Church” where we conducted the School of the Watchmen / Seer. Although the church musicians were not available, God was! Time and time again, we experienced a heavenly encounter. Here is a brief overview of His glory that we experienced.
The Power of Humility – His grace with presence
The first night began with a short exhortation on the power of humility that clothes us in God’s grace. 1 Peter 5:5 tell us when we humble ourselves, God gives grace to the humble. Humility is the recognition of who He is! At His feet we put our trust totally in Him, for He is more than able to do all that He has called us to do. He is our source for everything – our wisdom, our breath of life, salvation and gifting. He is the all in all who supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory.
And that’s what we corporately received – the riches of His glory, which is His living presence! It is His Spirit that empowers us and enlightens our eyes to see into the realm of the Spirit. Sometimes you have to go lower in order to go higher! As we rose up from the place of adoration at His feet, the atmosphere of the room shifted, and so did the people! What wondrous peace filled our inner most being! His peace is His presence, which is the substance of heaven. God gives grace to the humble and His grace can shift atmospheres – both within and without.
Filled with His peace we rose from the floor! The warmth of God’s love filled the room. It was like a caring family sitting in a living room with God basking in the warmth of a fire. There is no greater mantle than the cloak of humility. His presence brings unity and is the fear of hell, but to us who believe, the power of heaven.
The Sound of Heaven
We need a revelation of who Jesus is, especially when everything on earth is being shaken. Like the prophet Isaiah, we need to see the Lord who is high and lifted up (Is. 6:1). To see the one who sits at the right hand of God far above every name, every principality and every power. From this view, our faith is placed in placed in who He is. In doing so, from the place of His victory we are victorious.
It is here as we see Him, that the sound of worship is released on earth as it is in heaven. The apostle John saw the throne of God and the sound of heaven as the elders cast their crowns at His feet worshiping the Lord saying,
“You are worthy Oh Lord to receive glory and honor and power: for you have created all things, and for your pleasure they are and were created” (Re. 4:11).
John saw the sound of heaven, which is that of worship. Worship is an act of humility. It is place where we cast all our cares and crowns at His feet to ascribe unto Him all the glory and honor. God is not so insecure that He needs our worship but we have the grace to enter into His presence through worship. He takes great pleasure in His people. God is a Spirit who seeks those who worship Him in spirit from those who offer their love to Him. The sound of worship heard in heaven, is to be heard on earth. And just like in heaven, we receive His grace that clothes us in the glory of His living presence and thus, we become heaven revealed.
Shouts of Praise
The congregation then stood up and with a thunderous roar, gave praises unto the Lord. The sound of praise was so loud it shook the building! With one voice we ascribed unto Him all the glory and honor as the Lord of Lord’s and King of Kings. Then suddenly the Spirit of Holiness fell! I was in awe and at the same time stood with joy in the fear of the Lord. Without one instrument, as the voice of praise went up with a shout, His glory came down, for God inhabits the praises of His people,
“For you are holy, O lord that inhabits the praises of His people” (Ps. 22:3).
Naturally, we began each session on our knees thanking God for His grace followed by rising up with shouts of sacrifice of praise. Each time the Lord’s manifest presence filled the room that shifted the atmosphere with the light of heaven. Later, two men opened the sessions by blowing their shofars in unison. The sound was so powerful that it too, released the presence of the Lord. The high praises that followed took us to a whole new level of rising. As praises went up the Lord of Glory came down. In His presence we became one and it was glorious!
Sing A New Song
At one point a new song broke out among the people and the congregation became worship. A new song takes place when the people sing in the spirit (See 1 Cor. 14:15). It was a spontaneous release and the sound was heavenly. Once again, the room was filled with His presence. King David knew the fragrance of a new song who said, “Praise ye the Lord, and sing unto the Lord a new song and His praise in the congregation of the saints” (Psalms 149:1).
John heard in heaven the sound of a new song. Just before the Lamb of God opened the first seal of the book given to Him, the elders sang a new song. After this time of worship, the Lamb of God then opened the first seal of the book (Re.5: 6-14). New songs precede new things. New songs that break out through the people often precede the ministry of Christ on earth. We also see in Re. 11:16, that after the mighty acts of God, a new song was heard in heaven with praise. New songs are also sung after a God event transpires on earth. Thus, a new song paves the way for new things. It also glorifies with praise that which God has done.
The Sound of Joy
Often the sound of joy was heard during these meetings for in His presence there is fullness of joy. The kingdom of heaven is righteous, peace and joy IN the Spirit. (Romans 14:17) The joy of our salvation is Christ. David as a Psalmist knew the joyful sound stating, “Blessed are they that know the joyful sound, for they shall walk oh Lord in the light of your countenance” (Ps. 89:15).
The joyful sound contains the life of His presence, which is the light of our countenance! The apostle Paul tells us to be filled with the Spirit by singing and making melody in our heart TO the Lord. Worship is not singing about God, but TO Him from the heart (Eph. 5:17-20). Thus, being filled daily with the Holy Spirit enables us to be IN the Spirit. Being filled with His Spirit always brings fullness of joy for “In your presence there is fullness of joy (Psalms 16:11).
It was by knowing God’s presence that enabled David to experience the joy of heaven who declared, “LET the people be joyful in their King. LET them be joyful in glory and LET them sing aloud upon their beds” (Psalms 149:2,5). Notice the scriptures states “LET” the people do these things? Why? The next verse tell us why,
For the Lord takes pleasure in His people. He will beautify the meek with Salvation (Psalms 149:4).
When you limit the people in worship, (so as not to offend anyone) it restrains God’s blessings. This in turns robs the people of experiencing His pleasure that blesses us with His joy, for in His presence there is fullness of joy. His joy is our strength. I truly believe the next move of God is not due to an outpouring but the overflow of the infilling by those revived. The presence of God imparts to His people resurrection life that fills us with His life, light and love. It’s all about Him!
The Lord of Hosts
Throughout these meetings I sensed the Lord resting upon His people as the Lord of Host. The Lord of Host means “Lord of armies.” Truly these watchmen are part of an army led by the Lord of host. King David admonishes us to:
Lift up your heads O ye gates, and the King of Glory will come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of Host, He is the King of Glory, Selah (Psalms 24: 7-8 & 10).
When you worship with a heart of thanksgiving, unto Jesus as the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, the Lord empowers His people with the Spirit of might (Eph. 3:16). His presence renews, restores and brings life to the inner man. From the place of His presence comes renewed faith that imparts courage. These are the champions mobilized by the Lord for such a time as this and they will advance victoriously with the sound of praise as noted in 2 Chronicles 20:21-22,
“ And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, that should praise the Lord in the beauty of holiness; as they went out before the army, and to say “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemies…”
Love motivated worship anoints His people with the shout of victory (Is. 42:13). A living army is now rising as champions of praise. The power of worship provides a canopy of glory that pierces the darkness and cast down strongholds. It is not by might, nor by power but by His Spirit that displaces the power of darkness. God’s people are now being clothed with the light of His glory that reveals the Kingdom of heaven on earth as it is in heaven through the sound of worship. Instead of being ambushed, as we march forward with the sound of praise, the Lord of Host will ambush our enemies. He is our refuge, our fortress, and our shield (Ps. 91).
Christ, the Lion of Judah
There were times when the people released the sound of a Lion’s roar. Jesus is both the Lamb of God and the Lion of Judah. Judah means praise. This roar released by the people is the authority of the King who’s Kingdom cannot be shaken “For it is Christ in you the hope of Glory” (Col 1:27). Christ is King of His Kingdom and where His presence is, there is the King of glory in our midst!
When the people release the sound of a Lion’s roar, their authority in Christ frees them from any bondage trying to capture them. It causes hell to tremble and scatters our enemies. The sound of a cat’s meow doesn’t really do much for God’s people much less impress our adversary. But if one can put a thousand to flight, and two ten thousand, just think what corporate praises of a people that releases shouts of praise can impact a region with the Kingdom of heaven. It is written the Lord shall roar like a lion and the results are a return of His people from captivity!
They shall walk after the Lord: He shall roar like a lion” When he shall roar, then the children shall tremble in the West and return…and I shall place them in their homes says the Lord (Hosea 11:10-11). (See also Rev. 10:3)
It was Saturday morning at the end of our last session when a portal of heaven opened up in front of the Church platform. I was demonstrating how simple it is to be “able ministers of the Spirit” (2 Cor. 3:6) for the Holy Spirit is our helper who loves to demonstrate His power. This was the means in which Jesus taught, which is through the ministry of the Spirit that revealed the Kingdom of heaven (Luke 4:18 & Acts 1:1). Our call is to do the works He did. Suddenly, the atmosphere of heaven filled the entire front area where people were basking in His presence.
Some felt this as a wind blowing upon them. Others said they saw a whirlwind in that area. For me, I felt the nature of heaven itself had come that shifted the atmosphere with the light of His glory. All I know is when God shows up, we go with the flow! In response to this, I asked the people to walk through the area. In a single file they did! Wow! God orchestrated his own fire tunnel! As they went through, God touched each one! It was a powerful time- a “Bethel” experience.
In the scripture Jacob describes a dream where he saw a ladder rising into heaven with angels ascending and descending and the Lord stood above it. When he awoke out of His sleep, He said, “This is none other but the house of the Lord, and this is the gate of heaven (Genesis 28:17).” He then called the name of that place Bethel.
When Jesus walked this earth, He said men would see angels ascending and descending upon him. Friends, as we lift up our heads in worship, we create an open heaven – a ladder that enables us to enter into His presence. For we enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise (Ps. 100). When Jesus said, “It is finished” on the cross, a pathway was made for us to enter into the realm of His glory. We need not wait for an event to come. The Lord is ever present. He is the eternal one who desires for us to fellowship with Him NOW.
Now is the time and this is the day! From the place of intimacy with God, our walk should reveal the realm of heaven in us, through us and around us. Every meeting, every Church, every person is a gateway of heaven for the glory of the Lord to be present. We are the temples of the living God called to live under an open heaven where His Kingdom is revealed on earth as it is in heaven.
Praise His Name in the Dance
Sunday during the morning worship service, we experienced another breakthrough. As we worshipped the Lord singing to the words displayed on the screen, the freedom to worship with joy rose up in the midst of God’s people. Soon, people of all ages were dancing with abandoned worship unto the Lord. Whether it is a dance team that displays the majestic beauty, power and splendor of God, or the people dancing with joy to the sound of victory, God rejoices in His people. This too brought the worship to another level of His presence.
As David admonished, LET them praise His name in the dance, LET them sing praises unto him with cymbals and the harp, for the Lord takes pleasure in His people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. (Psalms 149: 3-4)
I have discovered the more I abandon myself in worship and dance before Him, the more I feel the pleasure of His presence. The Holy Spirit will lead you to truth, but only love offered from a worshippers heart, will bring you into His presence.
Did You Learn To Love?
While at Moravian Falls, I made a visit to the site where the prophet Bob Jones is buried. Years ago Bob had a revelation that each person that arrived in heaven will be asked, “Did you learn to love?” I can honestly say when I am asked with a resounding joy, “YES I DID!” God changed me by the power of His love and has taught me to love with His love.
I grew up without the nurturing touch of a caring mother and the model of a natural father in an extremely dysfunctional family. Of course, being in Viet Nam and the consequential bout with PTSD and Agent Orange also took its toll, That is until I became a Christian at which time I had a vision of my heavenly Father who spoke to me and said, “Welcome home son.”
As His hand touched mine, every fiber of my being was filled with His love. Ever since that day in 1977, my heavenly Father fills me to overflowing with His love. His love is something I ask for daily as well as for more of His life and light.
Our ministry is known for God’s love and the Father’s heart. Once I built upon vision, strategy and purpose. As a former military soldier I ran things more from the place of command rather than the heartbeat of the Father. After making many mistakes and faltering, I learned about the culture of honor and how to develop a family that is relational for God is a relational God. This has radically transformed my life as well as the ministry.
One of the reasons the Church has been in a major transition is to bring us into a place of change where we are transformed by His love. Those transformed by the Lord have the power as agents of change to bring transformation to the lives of others. We are not into titles or seeking to establish authority. Nor are we into making convincing speeches, but revealing the goodness of God and His love in power and demonstration of the Spirit. If the Lord is in it, so are we!
The foundation of our life and ministry is now built upon relationships where honor is foremost and love is foundational. A place where people are empowered to walk in their true identity as a new creation created in God’s image.
A culture of honor not only attracts God’s presence, but also sustains the anointing where truth becomes a movement, by God who is love that builds upon love. The greatest compliment we received from those that attended the School of Watchmen is this, “Roy, we have been praying for the Lord to take us to a new level of love, and now this has happened.” Thank you Lord Jesus, for your love never fails!
Even though this was a School of Watchmen /Seer, it was also a School of worship that blended perfectly with our purpose. Actually, it is this kind of worship that paved the way for the anointing to come that empowered the people with the life of His presence. This style of ministry enables us to be led by the Spirit from one life-changing meeting to another. The results are the deposit of the fruit of God’s eternal love!
In essence, leading people to the place where they become worship releases the realm of heaven. To start out in the place of humility clothes us in His grace – which is His living presence. As the people rise to worship God who is love and transition into high praises, it ushers in His glory. Then just stand back and watch what God does and follow His lead. Let the love of God rule and from the place of His presence, minister in our gifting. This is Kingdom life that is our way of life.
A worship team needs to be flowing in the spirit of worship, but the people also need to be worshippers of His glory. Then as one, the glory of God will fill His house. This is what happened the day King Solomon devoted the Temple.
As the priest, singers, and praises, were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord: when they lifted up their voice with their instruments of music declaring, For He is good, for His mercy endure forever, that the house was filled with a cloud. So that the priest could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God (2 Chr. 5:13-14).
To place our reliance upon a worship team in order to have worship can void the life giving purpose of worship – which is to become worship. To become the music that releases the fragrance of the sacrifice of praise. The pathway to releasing the light of His glory is to pour out our love and affection TO Him. Regardless of what we receive from Him, He is worthy of all honor, glory and praise. Worship is not a method but a means to enter into fellowship with the one who loves, adores and cherishes His own creation. Our bodies may not be made in His image, but our spirit was created to be full of love, life and love that radiates with the light of His glory.
We are the Church called to carry the light of His glory. Our passion is for more of His light and life. We especially covet more of His love to reveal the heartbeat of the father in heaven here on earth. The sound of heaven is the love of the Father manifested through the heart of a people that are worshippers – radical lovers of God that flow in the river of His love that brings life to the nations. (Ro. 5:5).
The call for every believer is to “Rise and Shine for your light has come and His glory has risen upon you” (Is 60:1).
Isn’t God good! In His heart and love – Roy
The following are testimonies by those present at the meeting.
Testimony by Ron and Adina Horner – A Glory Explosion
At the recent Watchmen/Seer Conference conducted by Roy Roden and his team, my wife and I received ministry during the Friday morning session.
Apparently, far more was imparted than we realized. We were leaving that afternoon to attend a conference in South Carolina where I was to minister on Saturday. We immediately noticed that both of us had more freedom in worship than we had experienced in years. On Saturday I ministered on “The Glory” and put into practice with the audience some of the things we learned at the conference. We had a Glory Explosion! God’s presence virtually exploded among us as the Holy Spirit ministered to the attendees breaking bondages and restoring lives. Everyone was touched by His power that day!
The following day upon returning to our home church – the presence of the Lord overwhelmed the church and we stayed in worship in His Presence for two hours – being changed by His Glory!
Thanks to Roy and the team for obeying Holy Spirit during the Watchmen/Seer Conference! We look forward to what is next!

Jackie Handelson – Prayer leader The Gathering Church” at Moravian Falls
The Destiny Eastgate Ministry team came to The Gathering Church in Moravian Falls for a four-day School on the Watchman. Roy Roden imparted seeing what the Father is saying into the foundation of the church. This is a prophetic community and his teachings brought an impartation of love through his emphasis on seeing people, situations, and the nations through the eyes of the Father. He demonstrated how to bring about a spiritual shifting in people, the church, and the community by releasing God’s love, joy, and peace. He emphasized a culture of honor as we learn to respect one another’s differences in our ways of perceiving the heavenly realm.
Not only did we receive excellent teaching, but also an impartation that came by group participation as “doers of the word.”
David White – Senior Pastor of The Gathering Church at Moravian Falls
Roy Roden walks in a humility that has allowed him to receive a biblical understanding of the unique role and calling of the ministry of the watchman. Attending the School of Watchman/Seers will enlarge your personal vision of this vital ministry and serve to release you into your calling as a Watchman / Seer in this critical hour.
