The Power of Honor

Whenever our hearts and mind align with that of heaven, we release the nature, life and glory of heaven on earth. One of the pathways to receiving the life of God is that of giving honor for honor releases life. We have all experienced how the Lord loves to come and inhabit our praise during a worship service as we worship Him in spirit ascribing unto Him the glory and honor with hearts of thanksgiving and praise for “You are worthy, O Lord to receive glory and honor and power: for you have created all things, and for you pleasure they are and were created (Rev. 4:11)

Worship attracts the presence of God for God inhabits the praises of His people (Ps. 22:3) but so does ascribing honor to another. In doing so we are honoring the Lord who created mankind in His image. We attract His presence when we honor (not worship) one another and in doing so, His presence releases life to us and to those around us!

Definition of HonorTo honor means to ascribe value to a person without stumbling over who they are not. We celebrate the grace that is on a person without them needing to be something else. We need to celebrate the victory, presence and achievement of another as if it is our very own.  It is kin to showing respect. The inability to celebrate another will disqualify you from receiving the very thing that you are praying for.

Kingdom Key – Life flows from giving not receiving. Jesus said, “Give and it shall be given unto you good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto you. For the same measure that you give it shall be measured to you again” (John 6:38).

If you want to be loved, give love to others. If you want honor live an honorable life and bestow honor unto others. If your desire is to financially prosper, plant seeds of finances. Whatsoever you sow and cultivate is the fruit you will reap.

The principle key that unlocks the blessings of heaven is that in giving we release from the storehouse of heaven that which we need. It is in giving honor that your life is enriched by the Lords presence for honor attracts the presence of God. By bestowing honor you pour water upon those that are thirsty that brings healing and restoration. God in turn honors you with the light of His life – in essence His glory.

“If you will draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and you’re your darkness  as the noon day…. and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters fail not” (Is. 58: 9-11).

1 Peter 2:9 states that we are a chosen generation, a Royal Priesthood ordained to show forth the praises of God. As Kings and Priest, we are ordained as servants of God to “Honor all men” (1 Pe. 2:16-17). Whether they are saved or unsaved, for even our enemies are created by God with a spirit.

Kings are given favor to ascribe honor to others. We are both servants and Kings. The Lord is raising up a Royal Priesthood, a Kingly people that know how to rule as servants ascribing honor and as servants that know how to rule as Kings with honor.

The Pathway to Promotion, Impartation and Destiny

We draw the anointing from another by honoring them.  As we do we can receive an impartation of the blessing, anointing and favor of God that rest upon another. We tap into a gold mine of grace by honoring the Spirit of God that rest upon them.

You can only receive the mantle and impartation of the glory that rest on someone by honoring them. Many people want the gifting they see and the glory without honoring them. Jesus once addressed the religious leaders of His day telling them that they honored him with their lips but their hearts were far from Him. Likewise, there are those that want you to lay hands on them just for the gift but their heart is far from you. The currency of heaven to receive impartations from the Father is that of honor!

God loves to be celebrated by you celebrating another person. Elijah received a double portion from Elijah because he honored him.  The day of your promotion in ministry and the longevity of your ministry is not determine by your anointing and gifting, but by the way in which  you honor others.

When we are aware of the unfulfilled desires of our heart and unfulfilled dreams, we open the door for discouragement and despair. What we are conscious of is what we release into the atmosphere that becomes our spiritual habitation. When we know what the Lord is doing and build upon that with praise and thanksgiving, we are honoring God that attracts His favor and presence. Again, what we are conscious of is released into the atmosphere that creates the spiritual climate that we dwell in!

We are to know what God is doing and celebrate the victory of others. It is our opportunity that leads to our own promotion. Ascribing honor attracts and sustains the presence of Christ in your life. As you honor others the Lord will rain upon your desert to become a spring of water that fails not and your light will rise as the noon day sun.

Often time the breakthrough that we need rest on someone. We can obtain the breakthrough that we need by honoring them. The realm of the miraculous lies in the culture of honor where value is given to the gifting of the Spirit that rest upon a person. Biblically, cities remained in a state of poverty when they failed to recognize the gifting of a person that God had sent to them.

Destiny will take you to the threshold that leads to your purpose, but who you honor will determine if you walk through the door. (See Mathew 10:42)   Honor is the pathway to the fulfillment of your destiny. Honor is the right of passage to your purpose in God – the key that unlocks the door to opportunity with favor.

Honor Creates Change

You can create change by learning how to value people.  The power of honor given in love softens hearts and brings healing to the soul. We must understand that what people do is quite often not who they really are. When you honor who they are, you are calling forth their true identify as they were created and ordained by Christ.

It is the goodness of God that leads to repentance, not someone’s judgment, criticism or condemnation. The power of honor can break a curse that rest upon another that came from unrighteous judgment as well as healing to those that bestow honor.

Jesus established a standard of honor when He rose from supper and took a towel and washed His disciple’s feet. His message was, “If I then, your Lord and Master have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet” (John 13: 14).

Having God’s blessing and favor comes by bestowing honor. In Mathew10:39-40 Jesus said. “He that finds his life shall lose it; and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it. He that receives you receives Me and he that receives Me receives the Father that sent Me.”

If any man will serve me, Him will My Father honor (John 12:12:26).

Honor attracts the presence of God and the blessing of His favor.  The key to having honor from our heavenly Father is by honoring others. When we take the focus off ourselves to honor another we are serving the Lord and “Him will the Father honor.”

The Plague of Dishonor

Dishonor creates a separation between people. There are seven things that the Lord hates. The Prophet Solomon declares that one of these seven is “He that sows discord among the brethern” (Proverbs 6:19). We are commanded to “Honor all men, Love the brotherhood, Fear God. Honor the King (1 Pe. 2: 17).

Moses gave the commandment of the Lord with the promise of longevity and prosperity that comes by honoring our Father and Mother. This includes our forefathers of the faith, our spiritual fathers and mothers as well as natural. Those who dishonor often are sick, oppressed and live in financial and spiritual poverty.

What you don’t learn through honor, you will learn through pain. Dishonor opens the door to the operation of evil spirits that have the right to oppress because it counters the divine favor, blessing and life of the Lord. We can walk in the plague of dishonor when we demean others, and our conversation has the edge of disrespect, rebellion, indifference and defiance.

Consider Saul who disobeyed Samuel.  Instead of utterly destroying the spoils of war, he offered the sheep and oxen as a sacrifice unto the Lord. The prophet Samuel finds out and despite Saul’s logical explanation declares unto him,

“Behold to obey is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness as the sin of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has rejected you from being King. (1 Sam. 15: 21-26)

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed David in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah. But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him” (1 Samuel 16:13-14).

Whom you honor and dishonor will shape your future. It is the determining factor to fulfill your destiny.  Although David as a young lad was anointed by Samuel to become King of Israel, during the reign of Saul when an evil spirit came upon him, David honored him by playing his harp that refreshed the King. Even when Saul launched a full scale manhunt to kill him and Saul while sleeping one night whose life was in David’s hands said, “God forbid that I should touch the Lords’ anointed.”

David was a man of honor who bestowed honor and because of this; he became King of Israel at the appointed time. He feared God more than he feared men. A man who was called by God as a man after His own heart. The reason why David was a man after God’s own heart is because He sought to know God’s heart and it became his own.

Our prayer:

Lord we ask that you give to us a heart to know that which you are doing, so that we can honor you and your Spirit that rest upon others. To bless your handiwork and the blessing, favor and anointing that rest upon them.  We ask for the eyes to see others as you created them with the wisdom and anointing to speak a good word in due season that will exhort, edify and lift them up into you.  I ask that my speech be peppered with grace to give life to the dry bones and water to the thirsty that they may live in the abundance of your grace.

To call forth the true identify in others by celebrating your spirit that is upon them and their talents, blessing and gifts that you have given to the.  To release life that comes from giving honor. In doing so I will find my true identity that comes from giving to receive the honor of the Father – that of His favor and glory.

In His heart and love,
